If you are wandering what are the quietest dishwashers for 2022, you have come to the right place.
You need a quiet dishwasher because your kitchen areas open to the living room.
However, the main problem, along with the noise, is you might overpay for quietness.
Sure, you need a quiet dishwasher, but the difference between a silence rating of 44 decibels and a noiseless one at 39 or 38 decibels is not that noticeable to the human ear
Some of the best appliance brand, that minute difference of one to three decibels can be $1000, more expensive.
And it’s completely unnecessary unless you’re buying other features.
In this article, you’ll learn about the quietest dishwashers by brand.
You’ll also learn about the minimum threshold for quietness so you don’t overbuy.
As a bonus, I’ll show you two noiseless dishwashers for around $1000.
So first you should know what quiet sounds like.
Let’s get started.

Sound Level Basics For Quietest Dishwashers
A decibel rating of 60 will make it hard to have a conversation in the kitchen.
Dishwasher noise levels are rated in decibels. The lower the decibel number, the quieter the dishwasher.
Buying a dishwasher at 44 decibels is quiet enough. You don’t have to pay for just quietness under 44 decibels.
I’ve said that before, but it bears repeating.
If you’re looking for good dishwashers with the main cycles, you can save a considerable amount of money, especially with the Miele and Bosch brands.
If you buy a 44 decibel dishwasher at $1099 and $1199 in both brands, compared to a 38 or 39 in the same brand at $2199 and $3099. That’s a big difference.
38 Decibels
Miele G7966SCVI
The Miele G7966SCVI is 38 decibels starting at $3099.
It’s expensive, and for just quietness, more than you need to pay.
Miele also slows the motor for their quietest cycle, so it’s a four hour cycle.
They do offer other worthwhile features, like the industry’s only automatic dispenser, dispensing the exact amount of detergent needed at the right time during the cycle.
It may sound like a gimmick, but it actually works.
They also have tons of cycles and the only knock to open door.
However, you can still buy that automatic dispenser and less expensive but still quiet Miele dishwasher starting at $1999.
All Miele dishwashers are quiet between 38 and 44 decibels.
39 Decibels
KitchenAid KDTE204KPS
KitchenAid is hard to understand as a brand.
Their quietest dishwasher is one of their least featured. There are multiple models in the KitchenAid lineup with decibel ratings between 39 and 45 decibels.
Their better M series models have added filtration, increasing the sound to a still quiet 44 decibels. Also better drying, better racks and a fourth wash arm.
Beko DDT39432XIH
Beko has become pretty popular. Some of this new found popularity is due to the scarcity of other, more established brands.
That part is performance. Beko has every conceivable cycle, including a separate spray arm with a special cycle called aquaintense to scour the dishes on your bottom rack.
It has WiFi so you can operate off your phone and even an ion generator, sending negative ions to counteract the positive ions of odors, for a cleaner, smelling dishwasher.
You can also buy this dishwasher panel ready for custom cabinet front for $1299.
It fits within the cabinet seamlessly, it’s one of your best and least expensive options with a panel.
Samsung DW80R9950
Samsung revolutionized dishwashers with their water wall dishwasher at $999, but spraying water at dishes to keep them clean doesn’t need a revolution.
Still, you have good features and cycles at a less expensive price.
Samsung does have an availability problem, worse than most on this list, and reliability and service can be a problem for the Samsung dishwasher as well.
40 Decibels
Buying a Bosch for the absolute quietest dishwasher in their Benchmark series of 38 decibels will cost you way too much money for the added cycles and the better TFT display.
Bosch SHXM88Z75N
Stick with the series below the benchmark, the 800 & 800+ series, for quiet dishwashers at a lower price.
If you’re looking for the best drying in any dishwasher, Bosch’s Crystal Dry Drying System will dry even plastics.
They use the volcanic element zeolite to absorb excess moisture and increase heat.
Bosch has a ton of dishwashers at44 decibels with basic cycles, good racks, but regular condensation drying, which is just jet dry in time around $849 to $999.
In fact, all Bosch dishwashers are 44 decibels or lower except for their lower priced, Ascenta series.
Bosch’s problem is availability. Most of the best series have been out of stock since 2020. Then again, you’ll have availability issues with any manufacturer.
LG LSDT9908SS
The LG Studio dishwasher is the best in this series. It has 40 decibels and a host of features, including steam cycles to power out baked on foods off dishes.
Although LG is known for refrigerators and laundry, their dishwasher is worth considering.
Their commitment to the inverter motor has produced a quieter appliance of every type, and it’s been dependable after the 2019 recall.
41 Decibels
Cove DW2450WS
Cove is the dishwasher division of Subzero & Wolf. You haven’t seen much of Cove because launching a new product during a pandemic is problematic.
Now this is interesting. It looks like the KitchenAid at $999 with a slightly different rack. Then again, Whirlpool is the owner of KitchenAid, so it’s not such a stretch.
42 Decibels
GE PDT845SFLDS
GE Profile has three models under 44 decibels. Interestingly, they still have the grinder dubbed “Piranha” and are still quiet.
It’s the only dishwasher with a grinder on this list.
They also have separate sprays dedicated for bottles and silverware.
It’s a pretty interesting dishwasher to consider.
44 Decibels
Fisher & Paykel DD24DAX9N
The Fisher & Paykel dish drawer is truly unique, being two drawers instead of a regular pull down dishwasher.
You don’t have to bend to place your dishes in the top drawer, so that’s a plus.
However, you do lose features and pay a premium as well. Most every double drawer is 44 decibels.
The single drawers vary between 43 and 46 decibels.
KitchenAid KDTM604KPS
44 decibels is the minimum quietness standard. KitchenAid’s M series at $1349 has their new rack holding the most capacity with four levels of wash, along with their best drying system.
Why is this better dishwasher louder than the lesser $999 series?
The series adds another filter for cleaner water. Filters add noise.
48 Decibels
Bosch is $849 for a 44 decibel dishwasher and most of the 44 decibel dishwashers are between $700 and $900.
Beko DUT25401X
Or if you want to spend less and have a reasonably quiet dishwasher, Beko DUT25401 is a reasonable consideration.
It has all the main cycles, an all stainless tub, but it’s not plastic or even a hybrid of plastic and stainless like the lesser expensive Samsung or the Bosch Ascenta dishwashers.
Conclusion
You don’t have to spend more than 999$ on a quiet dishwasher. Any dishwasher at 44 decibels and under will be quiet so you won’t hear it in the next room.
After 44 decibels, focus on other features like washing and drying and how it racks because you can buy a quiet dishwasher for almost every brand on the market.
