Miele G7000 Dishwasher Review

Are you curious about the hype surrounding Miele’s new G7000 series of dishwashers?

Or maybe you want some help choosing the right model for your kitchen?

In this review, we’ll give you a complete overview of Miele’s newest G7000 models and share some inside scoop as to what makes these dishwashers the best on the market.

    New Features

With the introduction of the G7000 dishwashers, Miele unveiled a ton of exciting new features.

This year, Miele introduced stunning new interior and exterior designs, including upgraded baskets, more robust handles, and sleek grey accents for a more modern look.

Miele also introduced AutoDos – the world’s first automatic detergent dispenser.

One of our favorite things about the G7000 dishwashers is that Miele’s AutoOpen door is now standard on all of these models.

This feature automatically opens the door at the end of the wash cycle, and releases excess steam, enhancing the overall drying process.

    Style Options

Before we get into more of the new features, let’s start by breaking down the style options available to you.

The first stylistic choice you have is whether you’d like the control panel to be visible or not. When visible, the controls are located at the top front of the panel. When hidden, you can find the controls at the top of the dishwasher, under the countertop. This allows for a more clean and sleek look.

You can also select a finish of either fingerprint resistant stainless steel or panel-ready.

The panel-ready option allows you to install a custom wood panel to match your surrounding cabinets.

For ultra-modern kitchens, you can even select a dishwasher with the knock-to-open feature.

This allows you to open the dishwasher by knocking on the door panel and eliminates the need for a handle.

    Model Overview

Now let’s break down the different models available in the G7000 series.

Miele model numbers look confusing at first, but all you have to do is look at the first two numbers to figure out which series the dishwasher belongs in.

The G7000 dishwashers are broken up into four series: the G71, G73, G75, and G79.

The rest of the numbers simply indicate style options we just talked about like control type and finish.

Although all Miele dishwashers are built to last with the same high quality components, as you go up in series, the dishwashers get quieter and you’ll pick up additional wash cycles.

You’ll also gain other convenient features like added racking flexibility.

    G71 Overview

    Let’s start with the entry-level G71 models.

These dishwashers are a huge upgrade from Miele’s older entry-level models.

They include a number of important upgrades like the AutoOpen Door feature, which allows the door to open at the end of the wash cycle.

This helps to ensure your dishes come out bone dry.

If you’re in an area with hard water, these dishwashers also have a built-in water softener to improve wash performance and prevent annoying watermarks.

Miele’s G7000 series also introduced the 3D Multiflex Third Rack, which is an improved version of Miele’s signature third rack design.

Unlike the third rack in the previous generation, the left-hand side can be pushed from side to side to create more space for tall items like wine glasses.

The right section of the tray can be adjusted up or down to create more space for large bowls or plates. The middle of the third rack now extends deeper to allow for small bowls and ladles to fit.

We found this design to be more user friendly compared to the old design.

Both the G71 and G73 models have what Miele calls Extra Comfort Baskets. In addition to the 3D Multiflex Third Rack, the Extra Comfort Baskets include customizable upper and lower baskets with hinged and fixed spikes to protect your dishes and keep them in place.

The upper rack also features a 5-cup rack with silicone elements to keep your wine glasses safe. These dishwashers are also much quieter than previous models, clocking in at about 43 decibels. Best of all, the QuickIntenseWash Cycle helps to clean your dishes in just 58 minutes.

The G71 dishwashers utilize a total of six different wash programs, including Normal, Rinse and Hold, QuickIntense Wash, SaniWash for added sanitation, Pots and Pans, and China and Crystal.

    G73 Overview

Next up we have the G73 models.

The G73 series dishwasher is actually the model I chose for my recent kitchen remodel. It had all the features I wanted plus the black panel looks great next to my Miele range.

These dishwashers include many of Miele’s most sought after new features, including AutoDos, AutoStart, and wifi connectivity.

AutoDos is an automatic detergent dispenser that releases the perfect amount of detergent based on the cycle you choose, as well as how dirty the dishes are.

Miele’s PowerDisc rests in the AutoDos compartment on the inside of the dishwasher door. It holds enough detergent for about 20 cycles, which means you can run your dishwasher for weeks at a time without having to stop to refill.

After 20 cycles, you’ll have to replace the PowerDisc for $12.99.

But not to worry – you can still use your favorite detergent or pods in these dishwashers if you’d prefer.

The G73 dishwashers come with all of the wash cycles included in the G71 series, with the addition of the extra quiet mode, which operates at 40 decibels, a self cleaning mode known as Appliance Care, and a Grates and Filters setting specifically engineering to deep clean cast iron grates and greasy vent hood filters.

You can even pre-set your cycles for the week with AutoStart. This allows you to go about your day without having to wonder whether or not you turned the dishwasher on.

You can pre-set your dishwasher to run at the same time every night, or a few times a week, depending on your needs.

This feature takes the guesswork out of cleaning your dishes and makes sure you’ll always have sparkling clean dishes even if you forgot to run the dishwasher before bed.

The G73 models are also wifi compatible, which means you can start your dishwasher remotely via Miele’s iPhone and Android apps.

The app will also send you notifications when it’s time to unload the dishwasher, refill the Rinse Aid, or replace the PowerDisc.

A common concern we hear from customers is that they’re nervous to trust all this new technology. The good news is that the G7000 series has been available in Europe for over a year.
So Miele has had plenty of time to work out any and all kinks before making this technology available in the U.S. market.

    G75 Overview

Up next are the G75 models.

These dishwashers feature a total of 12 different wash cycles. This includes all of the modes we mentioned earlier, with the addition of the water-saving Economy mode, Energy Saver mode, Sensor Wash, and a whisper quiet Extra Quiet Mode.

Unlike the 40 decibel extra quiet mode we mentioned earlier, this version of the program operates at only 38 decibels. However, it does add an additional half hour to the cycle time.

The G75 and G79 models also feature upgraded MultiComfort baskets, which include even more flexibility to protect everything from small bowls to large glass bottles.

When upgrading to the Miele G75 models, you’ll also enjoy the added perk of LED interior lights. These lights help to brilliantly display your sparkling clean dishes.

    G79 Overview

And finally, we have the most high-end dishwashers in the G7000 series – the G79.

The G79 models are without a doubt the best dishwashers Miele has to offer.

These revolutionary dishwashers include all of the features of the lower-end G7000 models, with the addition of Miele’s M-Touch controls.

These controls work like an iPhone, allowing you to swipe between different cycle options and features.

The G79 dishwashers also come with a 5-year warranty, as opposed to the traditional one year warranty that protects other models. I

t’s also one of the quietest models on our list, operating at only 38dB.

    Miele G4228 Affordable Recommendation

But what if you want a Miele dishwasher but don’t have the budget to invest in one of the newest models?

Let’s take a second to talk about the Miele G4228 Classic, which is a great alternative to the G7000 dishwashers.

This dishwasher gives you that classic Miele cleaning performance and longevity without all the bells and whistles.

Although this is an older model, it still gives you many innovative Miele features.

While not the quietest Miele dishwasher on the market at 46 decibels, you’ll likely notice an improvement if the dishwasher you’re replacing is 10 years or older.

This model has all the basic wash cycles you’d expect in a modern dishwasher: normal, pots and pans, sanitize wash, express wash and rinse and hold.

You’ll also have the option of going with a traditional silverware basket or you can upgrade to Miele’s cutlery tray for added storage space.

The only downside to this model is that you won’t enjoy many of the luxury features that are available in Miele’s newest dishwasher.

But if you’re looking for a budget friendly dishwasher with great performance and reliability, consider going with the G4228 Classic.

Miele makes the best appliances in the world with one singular objective: to make your life easier and hassle-free.

We hope this review has given you a great starting point when it comes to selecting the right Miele dishwasher for your home.
