GE Profile 12.2%
The new dishwasher considered this year could be the Profile with special bottle and silverware washes.
It’s 42 decibels with a soft food dispenser rather than the filter you have to clean like every other dishwasher.
Best part is its availability, at least right now. You can buy one and have it delivered within a few days.
Beko 10.3%
Their $999 dishwasher has 39 decibels, specialized sprays and cycles for baked on dishes, and even an ion neutralizer to keep your dishwasher smelling fresh.
Beko is the only brand to have a panel ready dishwasher available under $1,200 when we made this article.
You may want to buy more familiar brands, but Beko was certainly an interesting, reliable alternative.
Bosch 10.1%
The original company to address a quiet, well featured, and affordable dishwasher was Bosch.
Typically with the exception of Miele, more featured dishwashers have more issues. Should be looking at a very good repair rate for Bosch’s best dishwashers.
Over the last few years, Bosch has vastly improved their drying with Auto Auto opening dishwasher at the end of the cycles. And their CrystalDry with Zeolite volcanic elements is the best drying available.
Their simpler dishwashers are some of the most reliable as you’ll see later in this article.
Fisher & Paykel 9.9%
I remember buying some of the first Fisher & Paykels. Love the double drawer concept, especially after I turned 50. You bend less for that top drawer.
However, this reliability has never been that good, so it’s surprising to see them this high. Then again, they’re now owned by Haier, who did turn around GE in less than five years.
Miele 8.9%
How does a brand priding itself on quality control go from 5.9 to over 20% in service in three years and back down to 8%.
In 2017, it was frozen motors. In 2018, it was buzzing solenoids. Now, with these issues seemingly behind them, Miele is again the top rated premium dishwasher at 8.9%.
In terms of features, Miele is the best in terms of racking, washing, and drying.
They’re also the only company with a twenty load dispenser, dispensing the right amount of detergent at the right time. And it works.
The problem is availability. They will have limited supply throughout 2022.
JennAir 5.3% & KitchenAid 5.5%
JennAir and KitchenAid are both Whirlpool subsidiaries. Both were reliable last year. KitchenAid is more popular with more models and their new larger rack with another level of wash action.
The JennAir dishwasher is free with purchase of their qualifying cooking products.
Whirlpool 4.1%
Most of what was sold last year in Whirlpool is basic with limited features. It’s also loud at over 50 decibels.
So don’t run out and buy a Whirlpool dishwasher unless you’re looking for something less expensive and basic.
Last year Whirlpool was available. However, if you want a quieter dishwasher with better features, then consider another brand.
Thermador 3.6%
You’re probably wondering why a brand known for cooking is on this list.
Thermador is actually a Bosch dishwasher and is part of their One-Two-Gree program.
The dishwasher is free when you buy other Thermador appliances. Due to the pandemic, their better models were not available throughout most of 2021.
Only Thermador’s less expensive models are available. Which are essentially basic Bosch dishwashers with a Thermador label.
Ironically, the identical dishwashers are not available under the Bosch name.
LG 1.7%
At 1.72%, LG is the most reliable dishwasher and LG sells mostly it’s $799 and up.
1.72% is the lowest we’ve ever surveyed.
In fact, the only brand that’s lower are Weber grills at 1.31%.
Conclusion
The corollary of service issues is parts turnaround. The best dishwasher brands to buy based on service and parts availability are any of the dishwashers from Bosch as well as the GE lines.
You should also be concerned with the overall service experience.
